History
North Florida Spring & Brake, Inc. was founded in 1993 to provide specialized on-vehicle chassis service to the Northeast Florida trucking industry. Operations began on May 22, and continue today in our new state of the art, 15,000 square foot facility at 195 North Ellis Road.
North Florida Spring & Brake can trace it's roots to the early 1920's, when it operated as Southeast Wheel and Rim, the oldest business of its type in Jacksonville. In 1981, Southeast Wheel was purchased by AirBrake Controls, a Tampa corporation, and its focus was changed from "truck parts" to "truck
service." In 1983, the business moved to the Beaver Street location where it thrived throughout the 80s and early 90s as a front end, suspension and spring shop.
During the mid 90s, new owners expanded the services offered to include driveline/clutch repair and air conditioning service. In 1998, full "topside" RV repair was added and the focus of the business grew to include all types of trucks and RVs, doing all types of repairs. During this period, the
customer base expanded from a few hundred to over a thousand, as old customers returned and new customers signed on.
The move to Ellis Road, in the summer of 2000, was another step in placing the business in a position to offer the finest in customer service. In 2003, the newest "laser alignment" equipment was installed as well as computer diagnostic equipment for brakes and electrical systems.
Today, North Florida Spring & Brake sets the standard for independent repair facilities by offering quality service at affordable prices. It is a business that truly believes the customer comes first.
